Who am I, and why should you care?
I’m glad you asked! I’m R.E. Holding, and I write books.
I grew up in the Midwest in the 80s and 90s, often finding myself on the dirty low-pile carpets of Waldenbooks reading the newest Christopher Pike YA horror. I'm an avid lover of stories of all kinds, whether it be through books, movies, tabletop games, etc., with a particular penchant for the things that go bump in the night. A scientist by day, I write horror, sci-fi, and fantasy after dark.
My Substack is a place where I mainly host my monthly newsletter, where I will post updates and thoughts, sometimes recipes based on my stories, and maybe some art. I also occasionally share my short stories here, as well as random articles and reviews.
My podcast is writer-centric with tips on self-publishing, etymology, and other thoughts when it comes to the publishing world.
In addition, I make soap, and I’ve been doing it for over 20 years. Occasionally I’ll post some soap related things on here if that interests you, and it’s housed in its own special tab on my page. I also have a shop, at LH Soaps & Sundries. Besides the soap, I may have a few physical copies of my books on the site that I will sign for you!

As of 2026, I’ve written 6 books, 2 are available to get, and my fantasy trilogy is in the pre-launch phase for a Kickstarter omnibus. I just completed a horror novel that will hopefully be out by spooky season this year (2026).
I’m currently working on a trilogy sequel to the 3 different endings for Metaxysm, as well as the Eastern Roseaarde series and an untitled space horror.
