Named after John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich in Kent, he would kick back some stale meat between slices of bread while busy casting his bets as an avid gambler.
As I always say, it’s not imperative to know all history of every word you use in your fantasy novel, but do understand where they came from and why it’s important. (I am not innocent, by the way).
