You all should have gotten an email about the official launch of the podcast. There’s not much to say about it yet, since I just got started, but in the background, I’ve been writing on a bunch of topics that I think would be interesting to talk about on that medium. You can click on the banner above to see what I’ve posted so far!
If there is anything you think would be interesting for me to cover, just let me know in the comments and I’ll do my best to do it justice! I have a topic coming up soon that I’ll be talking about when to give up. Sounds morose, but it’s really not too bad. :)
My micro fiction short, What If… is still out there being judged like the bad boy it is. I won’t know until this coming Sunday (the 7th) how that story did. My heart wasn’t really into it, so I don’t anticipate it making it very far, but I’m still having some fun, even if it’s just a little. If you’d like to read it (it’s very short), CLICK HERE.
BOOK UPDATES
Reaper’s Legacy:
Soooo… I have a confession to make…
I have taken down the series because I am now officially querying it! In general, it’s not looked favorably on when taking an already published work and querying it. However, I’m going to give it a try and see where it goes. I’ve already given it a new name for the query trenches, so I’m hoping it’s a better hook. If it goes nowhere, I’m bringing it back online, but with a new title and new cover art.
PITCH SENTENCE: Loren Turtingas, a passive lover of the Law, is forced to become one of the most powerful Guild members in order to fight alongside his friends against a looming threat buried in the tomb of Mount Gehenna.
Why a new title? Well, because there’s a very popular Malazan book called Reaper’s Gale, which sounds very similar to mine. Not only that, but I have a character in my series named Gale. I haven’t had too many problems with this per se, but I think in order to give my series a fair shake, it’s in my best interest to rename it. And with the querying process, this is a great time to do that. I’m not going to share the name yet, because if an agent does pick it up and a publisher wants it, the title might change again.
Why a new cover? I sigh really hard at this… and I don’t have a good answer other than that it’s because I’m wishy-washy (don’t tell my husband… I call him wishy-washy all the time). It’s not because I don’t like the current cover, I just don’t think it’s sparking that flavor of what the book is about. I know you all know the saga about the previous cover artist, so there’s something about that interaction that’s tainting my perception of my own cover art. Plus, I’ve designed the second edition similar to my horror books, and I think that retro look is one I want to reserve specifically for horror, not fantasy. If my book gets picked up, then I don’t have to worry about it! But I’m going to give it 6 months, and if I still don’t have an agent, I’m going to reevaluate.
Stay tuned for more on this! If you’ve read both book 1 and 2 and want to read the third, please reach out for book 3, regardless of my querying status.
As a side note, I had book 1 (Reaper’s Gamble) listed on Net Galley last year, and I recently got a review update from a user (a year and a half later), and it came at such a good time:
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Fantasy with a bit of sci-fi This was a slow burn but wow did I enjoy it! I loved the character development and towards the ending it kept me guessing.
It’s always nice to get these!

Current Work In Progress
Small town horror won the poll, so yay! Just to give you a little preview of this story, here’s the first draft of the one sentence pitch:
Young retiree, Sebastian “Bash” Brown, is bored with life in crimeless rural Missouri, until a string of bizarre disappearances coincides with new small batch and oddly-named soaps showing up in the local craft shop, giving him and his friends fresh purpose in getting to the bottom of this mystery plaguing his town.
While Missouri is a real place, this will take place in a fictional town in Missouri. What do you think?

LH Soaps & Sundries updates
I don’t have much to say about my future of soap making, but I’m putting together a podcast commentary about it. In the meantime, you can find the article here:
That’s all for now! Thanks for being awesome :)

I wish you the best of luck. You are very brave for trying traditional publishing. I read the first story but because I haven’t spend 50$ I can’t leave a review on Amazon. Smaller publishing houses are more open for new ideas.
You are rocking all the things! I just recently started book 2 in your "now unnamed" series (THANK YOU FOR THE ARC AND SORRY IT HAS TAKEN ME SO LONG). I actually like the idea of this series getting new covers that match the fantasy genre. It's such a unique tale that I feel like the cover should be unique too! I wish you the best with the query process.
